Rules for using Atlas AI
Last updated: 19 August 2026
Quick version for students
Atlas AI is here to help you learn. Use it for revision, independent practice, and asking for explanations. Schoolwork features are available only inside an authorised School context.
Do not use Atlas AI to cheat, bully anyone, share your account, upload harmful content, or pretend someone else's work is yours.
If something feels unsafe, confusing, or unfair, tell a trusted adult or contact support@edseducation.com.
Read the Safety and Safeguarding page for urgent help, tutor conduct, AI limits, and recording rules.
Who these terms apply to
These terms apply when you use Atlas AI as a student, parent, guardian, teacher, school coordinator, or administrator. Atlas AI is a service of EDS Education Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 11334874.
Accounts
- Give accurate information when creating or updating an account.
- Keep passwords private and do not share accounts.
- Students under 13 need parent or guardian approval. A School class invitation uses a free School approval; a family-managed home account may require Premium.
- Parents, guardians, and schools are responsible for managing the children or learners they add.
Acceptable use
- Use Atlas AI for genuine learning, revision, tutoring, and schoolwork support.
- Do not use Atlas AI to cheat in tests, exams, or assessed work.
- Do not upload, request, or share abusive, illegal, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or unsafe content.
- Do not try to break, scrape, overload, copy, reverse engineer, or bypass access controls in Atlas AI.
- Do not share another person's personal data without permission.
- Do not try to move tutoring, payments, files, safety concerns, or student contact away from Atlas AI.
AI tutoring and marking
Atlas AI uses AI to explain topics, guide practice, and help mark work. AI can make mistakes. Students should use feedback as learning support, not as a guaranteed final grade or professional advice. Teachers, parents, guardians, and students should review important work carefully.
- Personal parent-controlled AI starts off. Where more than one Personal parent has authority, every required authorising parent must approve before the learner receives that AI access.
- Parents may see appropriate learning activity, progress, strengths, and recommended next steps. Raw AI conversations, private learner notes, and wellbeing answers are not shown to parents by default.
- AI essay and upload marking is formative learning feedback, not an official grade. Atlas does not invent a final mark without a usable rubric; formal or uncertain results require appropriate human review.
- Access supported past papers and exam-style practice where available.
Personal wellbeing, voice, and uploads
- The Personal wellbeing check-in is optional and only adjusts the current study-timer pace. The answer stays in this browser tab for the current session and is not written to the Atlas database. It is not a School safeguarding record and is not shown to a linked parent.
- Voice Tutor requires a microphone permission and an explicit session confirmation. Atlas stores the resulting private text transcript, not raw audio.
- I am uploading learning material I am allowed to use. It does not contain an identity document, intimate image, medical record, or an unnecessary clear image of another person.
- Atlas checks the declared type, size, and matching file signature. Atlas does not run a dedicated malware scanner, so do not upload executable or untrusted files.
- Written-work uploads are kept for the published retention period and can be submitted for deletion. Private Image Analysis sources and generated outputs can be deleted from the learner's source library.
Tutor conduct
Review/Live tutors must follow Atlas AI conduct rules, complete DBS and suitability checks before working with students, keep learning support professional, and report safeguarding concerns. Tutors may be suspended or removed if conduct, safety, privacy, or platform rules are broken.
Off-platform contact is not allowed between tutors and students. Tutors, students, and parents must not move lessons, messages, files, payments, social contact, or personal contact details to private email, phone numbers, messaging apps, or social media.
Payments and subscriptions
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Prices, billing periods, included features, and child-seat rules are shown before checkout. Access to paid features is granted through Atlas AI after Stripe confirms payment.
- Atlas Free is the trial route. Personal Premium has no automatic free trial.
- Student Premium and Parent Premium cost £29.99 per learner each month or £299.00 per learner each year, paid upfront.
- Monthly plans renew monthly. Annual plans renew annually. You can cancel through the billing portal; cancellation prevents the next renewal and paid access follows the recorded current billing period.
- Adding a paid learner seat takes effect immediately using Stripe's controlled proration. Removing a learner removes the parent's authority immediately but does not delete the learner's account or learning data. Any remaining paid access follows the recorded entitlement rather than being guessed.
- An upgrade may take effect immediately with transparent proration. A downgrade applies at renewal unless a customer's existing contract requires otherwise.
- Promotion codes remain unavailable unless Atlas configures and publishes a valid promotion. Tax or VAT is collected only when legally required and configured, and any amount is shown before payment confirmation.
- A billing address is collected only when the payment provider, a lawful tax calculation, or a receipt requirement needs it. Receipts and invoices identify Atlas, the payer, plan, cadence, learner-seat quantity, billing period, amount, currency, tax when applicable, and payment status.
Refunds are not automatic. An authorised Atlas operator reviews each request and records the outcome. A refund does not silently delete learning data or change entitlement without a recorded decision. Cancellation, refund, and statutory consumer rights are different; nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Contact support promptly if you want to cancel or request a refund.
Consumer cancellation rights can depend on the type of digital service, when access starts, and the circumstances of the purchase. Atlas provides the price, renewal, cancellation, and access information before payment and starts Premium access after payment confirmation. Contact support if you believe a statutory cancellation right applies.
Review/Live duty of care
Atlas AI Review/Live is learning support, not emergency support, counselling, therapy, legal advice, medical advice, or a guaranteed grade. Tutors and Atlas AI staff can support learning and safety reporting, but urgent risk should go to emergency services, trusted adults, or the relevant school safeguarding route.
Live sessions may be recorded only with clear notice or consent. Recordings are for safety, quality, dispute review, and audit, and the default retention target is 28 days unless a safeguarding, dispute, legal, billing, or regulatory hold applies.
Safety and safeguarding
Atlas AI includes safeguarding controls for children and young people. We may review, restrict, or escalate activity if we believe someone may be at risk, if the service is misused, or if the law requires it.
Safeguarding escalation may include contacting the Atlas AI DSL, restricting an account, suspending a tutor, contacting a school safeguarding route, or advising a user to seek urgent help. Atlas AI is not an emergency service.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Atlas AI reliable, but we may need to update, pause, repair, or change parts of the service. We may also update these terms. If a change is important, we will make reasonable efforts to tell affected users.
Ending access
You can stop using Atlas AI at any time. We may suspend or close access if these terms are broken, if payment fails, if an account creates safety or security risk, or if we are legally required to do so.
